Guam-based telco GTA has announced that it has extended fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connectivity to the village of Maina, which is situated on the western shore of the island. GTA noted: ‘This expansion is part of GTA’s commitment to bringing faster internet speeds to more homes in Guam, giving more communities access to the internet, enhancing communication, entertainment, and business opportunities for residents.’
TeleGeography notes that GTA first launched ‘Fiber to the Neighborhood’ services for residential and business customers in May 2015. Initially available to 12,000 homes, the telco ultimately seeks to deploy fibre networks passing 40,000 homes.
