Muscat – 11 October 2026: Omantel, Oman’s leading integrated Telecommunications & technology company, delivered a record network performance during the Khareef Dhofar 2026 season, reflecting continued progress in digital connectivity and customer experience.
As more than 1 million visitors flocked to Dhofar during the Khareef season this year, Omantel’s network accommodated the increase in demand for telecommunications and data services while maintaining network efficiency and service quality. Omantel also achieved the highest overall Average for service quality and user experience at Tourist sites and events during Dhofar Season in a survey conducted by the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA), scoring 79%, reflecting the strength of its network and continued investment in infrastructure and capacity.
Compared with Khareef 2025, the number of users increased by 21% during the 2026 season. Data traffic reached a record 650 TB, up 25%, while the number of unique roaming users during the month increased by 45%. 5G user throughput rose by 24%, reflecting the network’s ability to accommodate growing consumer and tourist demand while maintaining performance.
The increase was also reflected in roaming activity, with daily data usage reaching 11,4212 GB and the number of unique roaming users in Dhofar reaching 292,000. Despite the significant increase in traffic, network performance continued to improve. Higher 5G user throughput supported faster and more reliable connectivity, while 4G speeds increased by 20%.
