Latvian telecoms watchdog the Public Utilities Commission (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regulesanas Komisija, SPRK) has confirmed the results of last month’s auction for 5G-suitable spectrum in the 3750MHz-3800MHz range, and awarded the rights to Tele2 Latvia and Latvijas Mobilais Telefons (LMT). LMT was awarded the frequencies at 3750MHz-3775MHz whilst Tele2 claimed the 3775MHz-3800MHz block, with both companies submitting bids of EUR275,000. The licences are valid for 20 years, from 1 January 2024 to 31 December 2043. The tender was completed in October, but the results of such auctions are subject to a final review and approval by the SPRK before being made public.
