Far EasTone Telecommunications will launch its commercial 5G services in Taiwan on July 3.
FET has been keen on enhancing its deployments in the 5G B2C and B2B sectors, aiming to optimize the 80MHz bandwidths it secured in the mainstream 3.5GHz band to offer related services through integration of a number of emerging technologies including AI, IoT, big data, cloud solutions and information security.
FET also aims to reach a penetration rate of 50% covering half of the local population by year-end 2020, the company said.
To enrich B2C applications, the company has teamed up with KT, The Wall and other telecom players to enhance its digital and entertainment content. For integration of 5G and cable TV networks, FET is also tying up with cable TV operators including bb Broadband of China Networks Systems and Taiwan Broadband Communications (TBC), the company revealed.
