Malaysian cellco U Mobile has announced the extension of its 3G RAN sharing agreement with rival Maxis, which covers the ‘limited areas’ of the country where the former does not have its own infrastructure.
Confirming the development via press release, Maxis noted that over the past 18 months it has undertaken ‘an aggressive network replacement exercise across Malaysia’, with this now in its final phase. Explaining the decision to extend its deal with Maxis – with the new agreement valid until the end of June 2019 – U Mobile said this would ‘ensure the transition to its very own newly built network is seamless for customers’.
