Vodafone Turkey service revenue up 15% in September quarter

Vodafone Turkey saw its service revenue increase 15.2 percent on an organic basis to EUR 411 million in the fiscal second quarter to 30 September, supported by strong net adds in consumer contract, increased mobile data revenue, and good fixed line customer growth, the company said.

Over the first half of the year, service revenue rose 14.6 percent, and adjusted EBITDA grew 17.9 percent on an organic basis. However the adjusted EBITDA margin declined by 1.4 percentage points to 21.4 percent, reflecting an increase in costs as a result of greater inflationary pressures and a 30 percent devaluation in the Turkish Lira during the period.

The operator had 23.723 million mobile customers at the end of the September, an increase of 368,000 from the previous quarter. That included 392,000 new postpaid customers, offsetting a loss of 24,000 prepaid lines. Contract subscribers accounted for 53.9 percent of the mobile customer base, up from 53.1 percent a quarter earlier and 49.3 percent a year ago.

Mobile churn decreased to 25.3 percent from 27.7 percent in the previous quarter and 28.2 percent a year ago. Mobile ARPU was TRY 34, up from TRY 32.3 in the previous quarter and TRY 30.8 a year earlier. The company's mobile data consumption grew to 286.5 PB from 247.7 PB in the previous quarter and 177.8 PB a year ago. Fixed broadband users grew to 775,000 from 737,000 in the previous quarter.
