Umniah shortlisted for “The Global Telecom Awards” for schools connectivity project

Umniah has been shortlisted in the Global Telecom Awards (Glotel), under the ‘Connecting the Unconnected’ category. Glotel Telecom Awards announced nominations for 2018 in 14 different categories, recognizing Umniah for its pioneering schools connectivity project that connects the Ministry of Education with the kingdom’s public schools electronically.

The project, which was implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and the Special Communications Commission (SCC) of the Jordanian Armed Forces, links 2769 government schools, 43 directorates, and 23 administrative buildings in the Kingdom, in order to provide the infrastructure necessary for the ministry’s Internet network, offering integrated communications solutions to upgrade the educational process and increase its efficiency.

Speaking about the nomination for the prestigious global award, Umniah CEO Ziad Shatara said, "We are proud of Umniah's recognition for its role in this important national project, which supports the efforts of the Ministry of Education and aims to upgrade the educational system through electronic digital transformation and the implementation of electronic education in all the Kingdom’s schools."

He went on to add, "Umniah is the only Jordanian telecommunications company that has qualified to receive this honor in 2018, cementing our pioneering role in implementing creative projects at a global level. We are happy to be nominated for this award, which is considered one of the most prestigious global accolades in the telecommunications sector."

For six years, Glotel Telecom Awards has honored telecommunications companies that offer creative services in 14 categories working in developing the telecommunications industry in the world. The final winners for 2018 will be announced in November at a ceremony at the Montcalm Marble Arch Hotel in London.
