Western Union has tied up with Global Money Exchange to launch online money transfers in Oman via the Western Union mobile app and Westernunion.com website. Western Union has announced a transfer fee of OMR 1.5 per transaction for sending up to OMR 2,000 online or on the app. Customers can pay their transactions online through bank transfers from bank accounts in Oman, and recipients can pick up cash at more than 500,000 Western Union agents around the world.
In line with the Central Bank of Oman regulations, prior to the first use of the online service and the app, customers are required to register online, then verify in person with their national ID at one of the 46 Global Money Exchange locations. After verification, customers will receive a notification confirming account activation. Customers can then send Western Union money transfers anytime, at a few clicks, from their mobile phone or online.
The website and app (iOS and Android) enable customers to estimate fees and foreign exchange rates for online money transfers, track transfers online, view completed transactions and locate Western Union agents.
