Kosovo’s telecoms watchdog has begun preparing to make more spectrum available to operators, opening a tender for consultation on pricing for the airwaves.
The Regulatory Authority for Post and Electronic Communications (Autoriteti Rregullator i Komunikimeve Elektronike dhe Postare, ARKEP) is looking for assistance in determining an appropriate price tag (in EUR/MHz/population) for the following airwaves on both an FDD and TDD basis: 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2600MHz, and 3400MHz-3800MHz. In addition to pricing, ARKEP is seeking advice on the best practices for allocation and suggested technical and coverage requirements. As noted by TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, the regulator has previously allocated spectrum on an ad hoc basis based on requests from licensed providers.
