Vodafone Qatar in partnership with Huawei has announced that it achieved data speeds of 1Gbps in a test environment thanks to the introduction of 4.5G technology. The technology also was tested on live sites in Vodafone Qatar’s network and reached speeds of up to 780Mbps.
Vodafone CEO Ian Gray said the introduction of a 4.5G network will enable the implementation of smart city technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT) and cloud services in the country by providing the necessary mobile broadband capability. Building on Vodafone’s existing 4G+ services, the new 4.5G network will be rolled out across Vodafone Qatar’s network in the next few months, offering customers even faster mobile speeds and providing the company with greater network bandwidth utilization.
