Rogers claims it is first Canadian carrier to offer IoT "as a service"

Rogers Communications has announced that it is the first Canadian carrier to offer Internet of Things (IoT) ‘as a service’ to simplify the process of managing complex IoT solutions. Some of Rogers’ first solutions being offered as a service include End-to-End Incident Management, Farm & Food Monitoring and Level Monitoring, and Rogers will deliver these exclusively with blueRover, a Canadian-based provider. The solutions will be supported end-to-end by Rogers, including the management of devices, applications and connectivity for customers. blueRover provides IoT solutions across various industries, allowing businesses to securely track and monitor assets in real-time, and also automate manual business processes using sensor technology and secure data pathways. A Rogers-dedicated IoT Support team will additionally monitor these solutions to ensure the customer’s service is always on, according to a press release. According to estimated data in the release, just over 45% of Canadian organisations are deploying IoT solutions and the IoT market in Canada is forecast to reach a value of CAD13.5 billion (USD10.4 billion) by 2019.
