e& Egypt partners with National Company for Telecommunication Services to utilize Tiba 1 Satellite

e& Egypt announced a significant partnership with the National Company for Telecommunication Services (NCTS), a subsidiary of the Ministry of Defense, on Sunday. This collaboration aims to enhance telecommunications services across Egypt using the “Tiba 1” satellite. The agreement was officially signed by Hossam El-Meadawy, CEO of the institutional sector at e& Egypt, and Samy Shedied, chairman and managing director of NCTS.

NCTS, the exclusive entity authorized by the National Telecom Regulatory Authority (NTRA) to manage the Tiba 1 satellite’s commercial capacity, will facilitate e& Egypt’s provision of advanced telecommunications services, particularly in remote areas where traditional connectivity is limited. Utilizing the Ka-band, the arrangement allows the deployment of the VSAT system to deliver these services.

Since January, NCTS has been operational, offering services to various sectors, enhancing capabilities in critical areas such as petroleum, mining, and tourism—particularly benefiting entities like safari tour operators in remote regions.

e& Egypt has rigorously tested the new services to ensure compliance with NTRA standards and to maintain high-quality telecommunications. This initiative also supports major national projects, including “Mostakbal Masr-Ras El Hekma,” by providing essential telecom services in the absence of established infrastructure.

El-Meadawy highlighted the strategic importance of this partnership, stating, “This partnership enables us to deliver innovative telecom solutions that not only develop Egypt’s telecommunications sector but also ensure comprehensive coverage nationwide. We are proud to pioneer this competitive technology in Egypt.”

Established in 2006 and formerly known as Etisalat by e&, e& Egypt has been at the forefront of the telecom and IT sectors, consistently driving growth and technological advancement in the Egyptian market.
