French commercial station M6 says the ambition for its new streaming service is to offer a “platform made for the modern television viewer”.
Powered by state-of-the-art technology from RTL’s technical subsidiary Bedrock, M6+ will go live ahead of this summer’s European Football Championships.
Bedrock has created a platform that includes a data-rich video player enabling real-time engagement during upcoming sports events and reality TV, creating an “unprecedented” level of viewer interaction.
“M6 is amplifying its streaming leadership in France with an AVOD model available for free across all devices. Bedrock has strong experience with hyper-distribution supporting 60+ devices, turbocharged advertising monetisation, and massive scale welcoming millions of users every day on our platform. We are super proud to support M6’s digital acceleration strategy.” said Jonas Engwall, CEO of Bedrock.
There is also a vertical video player specifically designed for stories with interactive social features and a generative AI-powered search: generating better content discovery targeted to personal viewer requests.
“Our ambition with M6+ is to offer a streaming platform made for the modern television viewer. We wanted a more immersive platform, more engaging and obviously very accessible. Thanks to Bedrock’s scale and know-how across Europe, we will deploy our brand-new streaming service in just a few months, ready for EURO 2024.” said Henri de Fontaines, M6 Member of the Executive Board in charge of Strategy, Streaming and Distribution.
Each year more than 300 films, 11,000 hours of series from the Disney, CBS, Sony and Paramount libraries, 4,000 hours of reality TV, 200 youth brands and 300 series.
M6 Group wants to double the consumption of online programmes and triple the revenues generated from them by 2028.
