Kominfo's 4G BTS project completed

The 4G BTS in North Bowombaru Village, Talaud, North Sulawesi, will be inaugurated on 28 December 2023. This inauguration marks the completion of the Kominfo 4G BTS project at various points in underdeveloped, frontier and outermost areas (3T).

The inauguration ceremony for the operation of the 4G BTS in Talaud will be attended by the Minister of Communication and Information (Menkominfo) Budi Arie Setiadi and the Managing Director of Bakti Kominfo Fadhilah Mathar.

Budi previously said that 4,988 BTS out of the total target of 5,618 BTS would be fully operational until December 2023.

The remaining 630 BTS will be accelerated taking into account the conditions and challenges in the field. For example, related to security, geographic factors that are difficult to reach, and so on.

Budi said Kominfo continues to coordinate with the Ministry of Home Affairs and regional governments to find solutions for development in the 3T area.

Simultaneously with the inauguration of the operation of the 4G BTS in Talaud, Bakti Kominfo also held a ceremony for the operation of Satria-1.

The satellite project was launched into space from the Kennedy Space Center, Florida, USA, in June 2023.

Satria-1 will gradually occupy an orbit of 146 degrees East Longitude over the skies of Papua in October 2023. Furthermore, Satria-1 is targeted to start operating in early 2024, after going through a series of tests.

In just a few months, Minister of Communication and Information Budi Arie succeeded in completing the BTS 4G Kominfo project which was hampered by corruption cases.

Of the thousands of BTS built throughout Indonesia, only a few points were impossible to complete due to force majeure conditions, especially in several remote points on the island of Papua.
