The nexfibre roll-out continues and there have been several new areas where the service sold by Virgin Media O2 is now available. Haywards Heath is new to nexfibre and Virgin Media O2, but West Malling and Hoo St Werburgh are close to older coax/rfog Virgin Media O2 footprints.
VIrgin Media O2 is by far the largest Gigabit retailer in the UK with our figures showing a footprint of 16,826,964 premises where a Gigabit capable service can be ordered, the next closest retailer is Vodafone at 13,700,638 premises passed. Virgin Media O2 footprint being the combined coax/rfog/xgs-pon footprints and Vodafone is the Openreach and CityFibre FTTP networks.
The number of premises where five different FTTP networks are available continues to grow, as we keep finding more nexfibre footprint in Braintree and the figure is now up at 1,498 premsies. Mapping nexfibre generally makes little difference to the overall UK FTTP availability percentage due it overbuild, to date 70% of the nexfibre footprint has 1 or more other full-fibre network present.
