Telekom Malaysia and Chinese telecoms vendor FiberHome have launched an innovation lab to build up TM's digital talent ecosystem under their ongoing joint strategic partnership programme.
Facilitated by the TM Digital Academy platform, the TMDA-FiberHome Innovation Lab will serve as a hub for research opportunities, product showcases and technology demonstrations, with a focus on research and innovation, co-creation and commercialisation, and human capital development.
TM and FiberHome’s strategic partnership programme was created under an MoU signed in 2015 and renewed in 2021. One fruit of that programme was the ‘iCadet’ Industry Talents Development Programme called iCadet, established with Multimedia University, to provide scholarships under Yayasan Universiti Multimedia (YUM) and local development via transfer of technology with Bumiputera vendors.
The TMDA-FiberHome Innovation Lab aims to build on that initiative to further enhance TM's digital talent ecosystem, said TM chair Dato’ Zainal Abidin Putih.
“In enhancing the effectiveness of our digitalisation efforts, this partnership will include cross-border knowledge exchange encompassing talent best practices, competency frameworks, as well as technical training and certifications for our workforce and the local industry,” he said.
