NGN seminar explores future of authentication, cybersecurity

NGN International, a leading Bahraini IT systems integrations and managed cyber security company convened a seminar addressing the future of authentication.

The event delved into the crucial process of confirming a user's identity for online account or service access, exploring its profound relevance to the rapid advancements in cybersecurity on local, regional, and global scales.

The panelists delved into the critical role of the authentication mechanism in safeguarding the integrity of information, data, and accounts for companies, institutions, and individuals operating within the Kingdom of Bahrain.

Furthermore, they shed light on the contemporary emergence of biometric authentication, which leverages physical or behavioral attributes like fingerprints or facial recognition to authenticate users' identities.

This approach is widely acknowledged for its enhanced security features in contrast to conventional methods, such as passwords.

Speakers shared their anticipation of the burgeoning integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) in authentication processes.

They highlighted the potential of AI and ML in scrutinising vast datasets to discern anomalies and diverse cyber threats.

This analytical prowess can proactively identify and thwart fraudulent activities before they materialise.

It is evident that authentication methods will undergo continuous evolution to align with the evolving demands of businesses and users.

The pivotal challenge lies in striking a harmonious balance between ensuring utmost safety and user comfort, all while staying at the forefront of the latest trends and technological advancements.

This session saw the participation of distinguished experts including Alexander Koch, Vice- President of Sales EMEA at YUBICO, Rami Kayyali, Chief Technology Officer at Kernel, Hamad Alnakal, Penetration Tester at NGN International, and Abdulla Jasim, Cyber Security Engineer at NGN International

Ali Beshara, General Manager of NGN, emphasised that the future of digital authentication heavily relies on multi-factor technology.

He highlighted that relying solely on passwords is no longer sufficient, considering the escalating threats in the digital landscape.

He pointed out that the current challenges necessitate the adoption of new cyber solutions to ensure secure and convenient user access.

He specifically mentioned the importance of biometric authentication and the use of tokens, technologies that guarantee maximum protection for digital systems.
