DIGI Spain announced that it has successfully concluded the first phase of its agreement with investment group Abrdn relating to the rollout of fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks in Andalusia.
The plan involves investment of more than EUR300 million (USD317.6 million) to extend DIGI’s fibre network to more than 2.5 million homes in the provinces of Almeria, Cadiz, Cordoba, Granada, Huelva, Jaen, Malaga and Seville, under the agreement signed in March. Stage one of the project covers 1.35 million homes passed, while stage two will target another 1.15 million homes. The telco’s statement added that the funding will be contributed equally by both partners, although they are open to the inclusion of bank financing.
