Chilean telecoms regulator the Department of Telecommunications (Subsecretaria de Telecomunicaciones, Subtel) has announced plans to auction a 50MHz block of spectrum in the 3400MHz-3600MHz band in January next year.
Full details of the tender are to be published for consultation on 16 October with responses accepted between 17 October and 7 November 2023 and bids are to be submitted between 16 and 23 January 2024. TeleSemana writes that the terms of the auction and concession will differ from the previous allocations, providing clarity regarding sanctions for non-compliance with deployment commitments and detailing processes for changes to deadlines. The licence is also expected to include coverage obligations for roads to key areas such as hospitals, airports and ports and redundancy measures to guarantee connectivity in emergencies.
