Kuzey Kibris Turkcell (KKTCell), which operates in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), has launched its ‘4.5G’ mobile network. The operator secured 247MHz of spectrum in the 700MHz, 800MHz, 900MHz, 1800MHz, 2100MHz, 2600MHz and 3600MHz bands in November 2022, and was awarded a 4G licence with 18-year validity shortly after.
KKTC Telsim, meanwhile, secured a 4G/5G authorisation and suitable spectrum (222MHz) from the Information Technologies and Communication Authority (Bilgi Teknolojileri ve Haberlesme Kurumu, BTHK) in December 2022. The company will be allowed to debut its 4G network in October 2023.
