Orange Jordan and the Hashemite University (HU) celebrated the graduation of the second cohort of the FabLab in the university, under the “Innovation Space”, a three-year project co-funded by the European Union’s “Innovation for Enterprise Growth and Jobs” program “Innovate Jordan”, to support entrepreneurship and empower youth digitally across the Kingdom.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the vice president of the Hashemite University, Professor Dr. Awni Itradat, Chief Corporate Communication and Sustainability Officer at Orange Jordan, Eng. Rana Al Dababneh, and several faculty members and Orange Jordan managers.

During the ceremony, the HU FabLab 10 graduates presented their prototypes and shared their journey throughout an integrated and free training in digital manufacturing skills, devices, and equipment.

The training covered several equipment such as 3D printers, workstation for robotic projects, laser cutters for engraving wooden, acrylic, and cardboard panels, a machine for cutting and engraving wooden panels, and a machine for manufacturing electronic panels.

Vice President of the Hashemite University, Prof. Awni Itradat, said that he is happy with what the FabLab students achieved during the training by turning their ideas into actual prototypes, valuing the partnership with Orange Jordan and affirming the importance of the continuity of the FabLab in the upcoming years.

Chief Corporate Communication and Sustainability Officer at Orange Jordan, Eng. Rana Al Dababneh, congratulated the graduates of the cohort, highlighting the need for continuous learning and skills development, especially digital skills, to be able to move forward with their innovative projects.

Al Dababneh thanked the European Union for their partnership that contributed to the expansion of Orange Jordan’s qualitative programs in the Kingdom and thanked the Hashemite University for hosting the FabLab program.

The “Innovation Space” project supports the expansion of Orange’s digital programs to include 9 Community Digital Centers, 5 new coding academies, 5 FabLabs, 8 startup accelerators and incubators, in addition to an “Innovation Hub” at the Orange Digital Village in Amman.

The European Union funded "Innovation Space" is a pioneering initiative in Jordan and a one-stop-shop for digital innovation and entrepreneurial support.
