Vodafone 5G coverage reaches 90% of Germans

Vodafone Germany has announced that 74 million people are now covered by its 5G network, corresponding to 90% of the population. Coverage of its 5G Standalone (5G SA) service, which the operator refers to as ‘5G+’, now reaches 37 million Germans (45% of the population). Around 43% of smartphones used in Vodafone’s mobile network are now 5G compatible devices, up from 26% twelve months ago, with the average 5G customer consuming 3GB of data per month, an increase of 50% year-on-year, and the average transmission speed rising by around 20% to 112Mbps.

More than half of Vodafone’s mobile base stations in Germany are equipped with 5G technology, corresponding to a total of 14,200 locations with more than 43,000 antennas, while 5G+ is activated at more than 4,300 locations with around 13,000 antennas.

Since the beginning of the year, Vodafone has expanded its mobile service at more than 5,500 locations nationwide, thereby strengthening its LTE and 5G network. In addition, the company has set up more than 500 mobile communication stations and closed more than 550 LTE ‘dead spots’ to provide 98% 4G household coverage.
