Ncell Axiata expands 4G services

Ncell Axiata of Nepal has recently released a network coverage update for the last fiscal year, as reported by TelecomTalk. Ncell has reiterated its commitment to extending coverage to remote areas, and the company has now expanded its mobile broadband connectivity via 4G services to Jumla. Jumla is a remote district located in the Karnali Province of Western Nepal.

Expansion to Remote Areas

According to Ncell Axiata, this is a step towards bridging the digital divide by expanding its 4G services to Jumla. Ncell states that this expansion underscores its commitment to providing mobile broadband connectivity to all customers, even in the most challenging and remote areas.

4G Coverage Enhancement

In a recent announcement, Ncell shared that it had successfully erected three new towers - one each in Chandhannath Municipality, Tila Rural Municipality, and Tatopani Rural Municipality - in the Jumla district.

Ncell said this move has brought access to mobile broadband and voice services to local residents, including those in the district's headquarters of Khalanga. Previously, the district had been served by basic mobile services using V-SAT technology.

Ncell 4G Coverage

With the introduction of 4G services in Chandannath Municipality, Tila Rural Municipality, and Tatopani Municipality, Ncell said its 4G coverage has expanded to a 91.39 percent reach. Ncell attributed this coverage enhancement to the installation of new towers across the nation during the previous fiscal year, aimed to amplify access to 4G services for a wider population.

Introduction of 4G Services

Ncell stated that it initially introduced 4G services in the Kathmandu Valley in 2017. Over the course of the fiscal year 2022/23, Network expansion included the installation of 338 new sites across different regions of Nepal. Additionally, upgrades to 4G capacity were carried out in nearly 1,450 towers from over 60 districts.
