Turkcell reports ‘solid operational momentum’ in Q2

Turkey’s Turkcell announced that its group revenues rose by 73.5% year-on-year to TRY21.65 billion (USD798 million) in the second quarter of 2023, which it said was primarily due to accelerated ARPU and positive contributions of digital business services and its fintech (or ‘techfin’) operations. Quarterly EBITDA climbed 89.3% y-o-y to TRY9.52 billion leading to an EBITDA margin of 44.0%; EBIT was up 156.3% y-o-y to TRY6.54 billion driving an EBIT margin of 30.2%; and net income improved 70.1% y-o-y to TRY3.16 billion in 2Q23.

Turkcell’s core Turkey division reported ‘solid operational momentum’ in April-June 2023, achieving 404,000 quarterly mobile post-paid net subscription additions (including M2M/IoT), 33,000 quarterly fixed subscription net additions, and 40,000 quarterly fibre net additions. Turkcell – via its Superonline unit – also reported 165,000 new fibre home-passes in 2Q23, noting that a 300,000 year-end target had already been exceeded in the first half of the year.
