The National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) said that it has developed and soft launched its automated platform for licensing and permitting processes.
The platform or the Online Processing System with Digital Payment System (OPS-DPS) project is “in line with President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr.'s directive to ramp up measures to digitalize government processes to ensure efficient and fast delivery of services,” the NTC said in a statement.
The project is aimed to streamline and expedite the processing and issuance of licenses, permits, certificates, authorizations, and clearances for telecommunications and internet infrastructure.
The telecommunications regulator said the pilot implementation of the system will be in its Licensing Management of the Networks and Facilities Division (NFD) and Services and Interconnection Division (SID) under the agency’s Regulation Branch.
The services that the public may avail of through the system are most of the external services of the NFD and SID such as online filing/submission of application, evaluation/processing, payment of fees and issuance of a new Permit to Purchase.
The NTC said the DPS component of the project is set to be launched in September in preparation for a grand launch of the entire OPS-DPS system in October 2023.
In June, the government launched the eGov PH Super App —an application that integrates all government online services in one platform.
Marcos has been pushing for digitalization of government services and processes in a bid to lessen corruption by removing discretion coming from a government employee.
As part of the digital transformation agenda, the President has emphasized that the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) will be at “the core of this digitally transformed network of government services.” —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA Integrated News
