Maxis goes live with 5G in Malaysia

Malaysian operator Maxis has finally launched 5G services after state-owned 5G wholesaler Digital Nasional Berhad signed access agreements with the nation’s operators.

Maxis CEO Goh Seow Eng said in a statement yesterday: “We are excited to bring 5G plans to our customers following our shareholders’ approval at the EGM today, and the subsequent signing of the Access Agreement with DNB. Our plans offer attractive value for all segments, with a focus on affordability and adoption so that everyone can enjoy the benefits of 5G.”

The operator offers bumper data packages on 4G and 5G with monthly plans starting from MYR79 ($17) to MYR199 for up to 200GB of data. Customers switching to 5G can gain bonus data of up to 100GB, unlimited calls and SMS. Monthly plans spanning 24 to 36 months with 5G devices will have zero interest.

Maxis is also launching monthly business plans, prepaid and its fixed wireless access offering Maxis Home WiFi.
