State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak discussed in detail the overall progress including various activities taken in the ICT sector of Bangladesh in the last 14 years.

The state minister highlighted the importance of introducing cyber security laws and the data protection act to ensure the safety and welfare of the people of Bangladesh, including the launch of Starlink in Bangladesh.

The state minister said Bangladesh will move forward in various sectors including information technology if it gets the support of the United States.

US Ambassador Peter Haas said Bangladesh is far ahead in information technology. He expressed optimism that it would go further in the future.

The US government's cooperation in the development of Bangladesh's IT sector will continue in the future, he assured.

Starlink, Elon Musk's satellite internet service, is set to launch an internet connection service in Bangladesh to connect geographically isolated (hard to reach) or disaster-affected populations with uninterrupted high-speed Internet.

Starlink provided two devices for a three-month test run, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Zunaid Ahmed Palak told Dhaka Tribune earlier.

One of the devices will be installed on a bus while another device will be installed on a remote island in Bangladesh to test the compatibility of this internet service.
