The Ministry of Post and Telecommunications has reiterated its plans to construct community technology centres at more than 500 high schools across the countries to promote digital development and skills.
Mister of Post and Telecommunications Chea Vandeth issued the reiteration during the August 4 inauguration ceremony of the UNESCO UNITWIN Cambodia: Data Science Joint Certification Programme, which was attended by South Korean ambassador Park Jung-Wook.
Vandeth described the programme as an example of the cooperation between Cambodia, South Korea, and UNESCO on technology development, telecommunication and information.
Vandeth told the participants how the ministry had recently launched Digital Talents, a contest to promote digital skills, which is open to all high school students from across the country.
“To contribute to capacity building of the Kingdom’s digital skills, the ministry will construct 558 community technology centres. They will promote digital skills and upgrade the digital capacity of students, civil servants and skilled workers, and increase the ability to use digital technology among the community,” he said.
During the launch ceremony, a memorandum of understanding (MoU), was also signed between South Korea’s Handong Global University and six universities in Cambodia.
