Syv expands 5G network in Tornio, Keminmaa and Simo in Southwestern Lapland

Finland Telecommunications service providers Telia and DNA, through their joint venture Suomen Yhteisverkko (Syv), are advancing the deployment of their 5G network in Southwestern Lapland, particularly in Tornio, Keminmaa, and Simo, resulting in improved 4G and 5G experiences in the region, according to the official release.

Connectivity in Lounais-Lapland

Suomen Yhteisverkko started building the 5G network in Eastern and Northern Finland in the spring of 2021 and now plans to expand the 5G Network further into Lounais-Lapland. The company said that as the project enters its next phase in July, the focus is on areas Tornio, Keminmaa, and Simo, key hubs connecting Finland and Sweden.

Scheduled Construction and Areas Covered

As per the announcement, the construction of the 5G network in Tornio, Keminmaa, and Simo will commence on July 25th. The aim is to finish installing new base stations by August 24th.

Service Disruptions and Connectivity

According to the statement, Telia and DNA are upgrading the network infrastructure, causing minimal disruptions. After the upgrade, users can expect a more efficient internet experience with improved capacity and coverage.

Suomen Yhteisverkko, established by DNA and Telia Finland in 2014, is a joint network company dedicated to planning, implementing, and maintaining mobile networks in Northern and Eastern Finland.

With the ongoing expansion of their 5G network, Telia and DNA reaffirm their commitment to expanding and enhancing 5G connectivity for communities across Lounais-Lapland.
