TIM Brasil launches 2Gbps fiber service in eight states and DF

TIM Brasil has launched a new fibre broadband package that supports downlink/uplink speeds of 2Gbps/1Gbps. From launch the new service has been made available in selected locations in the states of Amazonas, Bahia, Goias, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo, in addition to the Federal District. The 2Gbps package is priced at BRL289.50 (USD60.2) and includes a Wi-Fi 6 router that is capable of connecting up to 128 devices simultaneously.

TIM Brasil notes that the launch leverages its partnerships with neutral network providers I-Systems and V.tal. In November 2021 IHS Towers acquired a controlling interest in FiberCo Solucoes de Infraestrutura (FiberCo) from TIM Brasil for BRL1.096 billion. Today, FiberCo operates under the name of I-Systems and offers fibre connectivity in 41 cities across Amazonas, Bahia, Goias, Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo, Santa Catarina and the Federal District (i.e. all TIM Brasil 2Gbps locations as well as Santa Catarina).

V.tal, meanwhile, was spun off from Oi in 2022, and currently presides over 450,000km of terrestrial optical fibre which connects more than 2,380 municipalities in Brazil.
