Serbian Business Registers Agency records show that the Globaltel wireless telecommunications company is now owned by the state-owned Telekom Serbia.
Globaltel was formerly owned by Zeljko Mitrovic’s Pink Media Group (55 percent) and Procesco DOO (45 percent). The change of ownership was dated July 13.
The records do not show how much Telekom paid for Globaltel but the state-owned telecommunications company’s CEO Vladimir Lucic told NIN weekly recently that the price is not the rumored 17 million Euro. He also denied that the deal was to compensate Mitrovic for discontinuing a reality show or to Globaltel co-owner Sava Terzic (one of the co-owners of Procesco) for terminating a Belgrade city government contract with the Kentkart company on ticket collection for the city transport company.
Lucic said that Telekom’s strategy was to take over the competition. Telekom Serbia has bought a number of smaller cable services providers over the past few years, paying what experts say was higher than market prices.
