The Zambian government revealed Elon Musk’s satellite connectivity firm Starlink has been awarded an operating license.
The licence follows Starlink conducting successful tests across nine provinces across Zambia and enabled the firm to launch its low earth orbit satellites in the country.
The Zambian government has made efforts to improve connectivity in the landlocked country, one recently being signing a memorandum of understanding with Liquid Telecom, for the firm to provide internet services to secondary schools and train the next generation of digital natives.
Recently Starlink was also awarded a 10 year-licence to operate in Trinidad and Tobago, as well as licenses in Costa Rica and Guatemala.
