NIGCOMSAT, Yahclick to expand broadband access in Sub-Saharan Africa

NIGCOMSAT Ltd, the Nigerian Communications Satellite company, has entered into a collaborative partnership with Yahclick, a subsidiary of Yahsat and operator of the Mubadala communications satellite of the United Arab Emirates.

The aim of this collaboration is to deepen broadband penetration in Nigeria and throughout Africa.

During a recent visit to NIGCOMSAT’s office, the vice-president and director of Sub-Saharan Africa for Yahclick, Mr. Kevin Viret was warmly received by the managing director, Engr. Tukur Lawal.

Lawal expressed his satisfaction with the range of services offered by Yahclick’s business model.

NIGCOMSAT’s general manager of CAD/SP, Dr. Adamu Idris stated in a press release that Lawal, accompanied by his top management team, assured the Yahclick representatives of their willingness to collaborate.

Lawal acknowledged that the services presented by Yahclick had the potential to be a game-changer for NIGCOMSAT. He emphasised that the two satellite companies would work together to capitalize on the available market in Nigeria and the wider sub-Saharan Africa region.

During the meeting, Viret, accompanied by the regional manager for West Africa, Mr. Attah Abiodun expressed their satisfaction with the warm reception they received. Viret assured NIGCOMSAT’s management team that the services provided by Yahclick could complement areas where NIGCOMSAT’s reach is limited. He also mentioned that the two teams would collaborate on pricing and billing to ensure a successful partnership.

“We can cover blind spots that NIGCOMSAT’s spot beam cannot reach,” Viret explained.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Viret commended NIGCOMSAT Ltd and expressed his high level of satisfaction with the professionalism demonstrated by Lawal and his team.
