M7 Deutschland will offer its customers a subscription video-on-demand (SVOD) service in addition to its TV channel portfolio.
The all-in-one solution, which M7 is setting up together with sister company Studiocanal – like M7, part of Canal+ Group – will enable network operators to benefit from the growth opportunities in the streaming market, increase customer retention and address new target groups, according to the service provider.
The Studiocanal channels Arthaus+, Allstars and Moviecult feature European movies and series, exclusive originals as well as US blockbusters and enable network operators to offer their customers a fully-fledged SVOD service, increasing their revenues and expanding their market positions. The channels are curated editorially and address clearly defined target groups.
“With our attractive SVOD offer, we enable partners to enter the streaming market easily and quickly. The white label product strengthens their brand in competition and opens up an additional source of revenue, rounding off the classic TV line-up,” said Marco Hellberg, Managing Director of Eviso Germany, the M7 Business Partner in Germany.
M7 will present the details of the new SVOD service, other new offerings and highlights at its stand A10 in hall 7 at German trade fair ANGA COM, which takes place in Cologne from May 23 to 25, 2023. An important topic will be the transition of the TV signal distribution to the M7 partners to fibre networks. In addition to the central M7 headend at the Equinix fibre hub in Frankfurt, M7 is now also offering further local access points via several cooperation partners, making the link-up with the head-ends easier and more cost-effective.
As part of the ANGA COM congress programme, Marco Hellberg will speak on May 24 on the panel “Quo vadis TV Reception: Who wins the Battle for the Customer?” (14:30-15:30 CEST, Room 1) about the new situation on the German housing market, where cable TV fees can no longer be charged via the ancillary rental costs in future, and what possibilities and opportunities arise for housing companies, network operators and service providers.
A highlight of the second day of the fair is the traditional M7 evening event: the TV industry will again meet in the unique ambience of the former Kaiser-Wilhelm bath in the Cologne City Palace from 1914 to exchange views on current developments and trends.
