Tele2 Lithuania has announced it has achieved download speeds of 4.45Gbps during tests carried out in its 5G network.
The operator was granted a special licence from the Communications Regulatory Authority (RRT) to allow the test, which was conducted in the 26GHz frequency band. Well-suited for high speed and high capacity services, the 26GHz band will be rolled out in high traffic areas such as sports arenas, city centres and music venues. It will also provide a solid foundation for virtual and augmented reality services that require high speeds. Such data rates are expected to be rolled out across Lithuania when 5G coverage reaches national levels, Tele2 added.
