Openreach publishes latest FTTP build plans

Openreach, the network arm of BT Group, has published updated plans outlining where and when it is will roll out fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology across the UK. As part of a regular programme of build updates, the company also named ten new locations where it plans to deliver gigabit-capable technology to a further 124,000 homes and businesses. According to Openreach, these new locations are spread across the country, and include: Cheriton in Kent, Mexborough in South Yorkshire, Grangemouth in Scotland, and Morriston in Wales. In total, more than 2,800 towns, cities, boroughs, villages and hamlets are now included in its build programme.

As previously reported by CommsUpdate, Openreach announced reaching a coverage milestone in March 2023, revealing that its FTTP network covered ten million premises, including three million in what it terms the hardest to serve ‘final third’ of the country. Ultimately the company aims to reach 25 million homes and businesses with full fibre by December 2026.
