Dyn, a new sports streaming platform for Germany, will go live on August 23.
The streamer is the product of a joint venture between Axel Springer and former DFL chief Christian Siefert. The company, originally called S-Nation, changed its name to Dyn Media last year.
Dyn has struck a deal with sports streamer DAZN to acquire rights to the EHF Champions League and EHF European League handball competitions for men and women as its flagship property.
The streamer will also feature sports including basketball, volleyball, table tennis and hockey via a range of rights acquired over the last year. The service will kick off with coverage of the Pixum Super Cup 2023 handball competition.
An annual subscription will cost the equivalent of €12.50 per month while a monthly subscription will be available for €14.50.
The Dyn subscription includes access to all live games, highlights and editorial formats of all leagues and will be available on the www.dyn.sport website from the summer. An advertising campaign will start in July.
Dyn can be received via Internet-enabled televisions, PCs, laptops, tablets and smartphones.
Dyn’s management team has developed a partnership model with participating German Federal sports leagues and associations.
When signing a contract, subscribers are asked which of the Dyn sports they particularly want to support. Ten percent of the net subscription price then goes directly to the relevant league at no extra cost to the fan.
Dyn Media said that partner associations, leagues and clubs and media partners will receive extensive editorial material such as highlight video clips and accompanying interviews via the Dyn Content Desk, a cloud-based system for uploading and retrieving editorial content, for distribution via their own channels.
“When it comes to pricing, we rely on a simple, transparent and fair model: customers can choose between a subscription that can be canceled monthly and a discounted annual subscription. An annual subscription with a minimum term of 12 months will cost €12.50 per month, and a subscription that can be canceled monthly will cost €14.50,” said Andreas Heyden, who will serve as CEO.
“Dyn will be more than a sports channel. The heart of our concept is the partnership with and for sport. By providing more free-to-air content than ever before, we’re significantly increasing the visibility of leagues and competitions. Through the agreed proceeds from the media rights, more reach for the leagues, clubs and their sponsors, we also support sustainable structural growth in sport with the help of our Move Your Sport concept” said Dyn Media founder and shareholder Seifert.
“The partners of our Dyn Media Network are given the opportunity to distribute more moving image content than ever before via their own channels. In this way, specialist and regional media can also benefit from the attractiveness of our sports with game images and at the same time further increase their media presence,” said chief operating officer Marcel Wontorra.
