Global connectivity firm VEON has announced that its subsidiary Bangalink has signed a tri-party agreement with Teletalk and Summit Towers Ltd. to share telecommunication infrastructure, according to a press release.
The agreement states the three parties will share infrastructure as per the Tower Sharing Guidelines and any other relevant laws and regulations. Summit Towers Ltd. will provide technical support for the initiative.
"Banglalink always welcomes opportunities to collaborate with other industry players to take the telecom industry forward," Erik Aas, CEO at Banglalink, said in the release. "It is a timely initiative to improve customer experience and quality of service further, while both organizations utilize shareable resources in an environment-friendly and cost-efficient way."
"We strongly believe in industry collaborations that enable faster and more efficient delivery of services to mobile customers as a part of our digital operator strategy," Kaan Terzioglu, CEO of VEON Group, said in the release. "The agreement with Teletalk and Summit takes Banglalink closer to this goal through the sharing of network infrastructure in Bangladesh and will benefit the mobile customers of both operators."
The announcement comes after a series of developments in Bangladesh's digital connectivity transformation, which have included the Bangalink rollout of 4G nationwide and over 1 billion FIFA streams in 2022 using Bangalink's Toffee streaming platform, in addition to Veon's global efforts to extend connectivity in emerging markets, such as its subsidiary Beeline's launch of 4G connectivity in the metro stations of Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
