Canal+ expands its reach in Africa with the launch of the digital creation centre, Digital Factory, based in Senegal.
The Digital Factory was built to identify or produce digital content intended to make the Canal+ application the first African content application. It offers a replay service for local African channels in order to help them digitise their programmes and make them available to all subscribers via the Canal+ app.
Following its launch, Canal+ aims to enrich the digital content offered within the new Canal+ Connected Decoder which is available in the Ivory Coast as well as Gabon, and will roll-out to other African territories at the end of 2023. The decoder aims to revolutionise the TV experience, with access to a catalogue of more than 35,000 replay contents. The Digital Factory will also strengthen the group’s social networks, with it operating across 20 African countries and nearly 25 million subscribers within the continent.
Located in Dakar, the site’s team is made up of graphic designers, creators and community managers from across the continent.
Speaking on the Digital Factory launch the Canal+ describled it as “a first of its kind” in Africa. They said, “Canal+ Group is committed to supporting the audiovisual industry by producing ever more creative African content, while investing in the most innovative technologies to enrich its entertainment offer.”
