IOH nears full nationwide network integration

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) said it is nearing complete nationwide network integration, a move that will boost coverage and customer experience.

IOH detailed in a statement it has so far completed network integration in Jakarta, Bogor, Depok, Tangerang, and Bekasi (Jabodetabek). Through the integration customers in those areas can experience better indoor coverage by 20%, and data speeds up by 27%, all resulting in a 21% surge in traffic. Other cities across Indonesia will see network integration by the end of Q1 this year.

The operator partnered with Swedish vendor Ericsson for its network upgrade, tapping into the vendor's Multi Operator Core Network technology, which provides quicker time to market for 5G services and larger capacity.

IOH president and CEO Vikram Sinha said: "Technology is the key enabler in a nation's digitalisation, and its advancements depend highly on the telecom industry. In line with our vision to become the most preferred digital telco of Indonesia, we at IOH are committed to continue providing a reliable network to improve customers' digital experience. We believe that better experiences will increase people's productivity, contribute to the nation's digital economy's future growth, and ultimately empower every Indonesian."

Head of Ericsson Indonesia Jerry Soper added: "Ericsson is pleased to support Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (IOH) in completing the MOCN integration project. We believe this project can maximize the effectiveness of the existing network infrastructure and significantly improve customer experience throughout Jabodetabek. Definitely, this is also part of our efforts in supporting Indonesia's digital transformation agenda."
