YahClick and Canar to bring improved satcom services to Sudan

YahClick, the data solutions subsidiary of UAE-headquartered satellite operator Al Yah Satellite Communications Company (Yahsat), has signed a US$15 million six-year strategic partnership agreement with Canar Telecommunication Co of Sudan, further expanding YahClick’s satellite broadband presence in Africa.

The deal will make Canar one of YahClick’s largest service providers across the region and deliver a wide range of new and improved services to customers across Sudan. Canar will be enabling services on Hughes’ Jupiter platform.

Under the agreement, Canar has procured significant satellite capacity from YahClick, which will be used to deliver consistent, reliable and fast broadband internet connectivity to consumers and businesses in Sudan. YahClick says that the expanded connectivity it delivers will enable Canar to build on its position as a broadband market leader based on quality of service, with superior network performance and availability.

The deal is in line with Canar and the Sudanese government’s digital transformation goals.

Canar is seeking to provide enhanced connectivity to support a series of e-government programmes and revitalize the country’s banking and private sectors. The telecoms provider is also aiming to support entrepreneurs in the country to digitally empower their businesses by offering them more affordable and reliable internet services.

Canar already employs cutting-edge technologies such as next generation networks (NGN) and wireless local loop (WLL). Canar’s products and offerings include voice, data, internet and multimedia services.
