COMEX 2009 Promises To Be Better Than Ever

This year’s COMEX features new and enriched concepts, such as e-governance, e-health, e-learning, e-gaming, and green IT; besides digital equipment technologies, wireless and satellite communications and consumer electronics.

A five-day expo, COMEX 2009 features tech-filled areas: The Business Area runs from May 25 to 28, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. The Shopper Area runs from May 25 to 29, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. (Friday opens from 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Oman International Exhibition Centre).

COMEX caters to the growing demand for ICT products, services and solutions across all sectors. Corporate decision makers can get a wide range of IT, telecom and technology products and services at the Business Area. Tech-savvy enthusiasts on the other hand can indulge in a broad spectrum of the latest technology, hardware, software, gadgets and consumer electronics at the Shopper Area.

An annual value added programme introduced for the first time at COMEX 2008, the COMEX IT School with Tariq Al-Barwani will continue this year as well, specifically devoted for COMEX visitors. The programme highlights what's new in the area of the information and communications technology. Visitors can learn, ask questions and get answers directly from Oman's IT expert.

The sessions the IT School will focus on this year include:

-> The nuts and bolts of becoming an IT expert > What would it take to become an IT professional?

-> Green IT - > Corporate strategies to drive energy efficient, cost effective and sustainable IT infrastructures like document management strategies, virtualisation, data-centre energy use etc.
