AWS re/Start MENA successfully completes first year by helping participants transition into tech jobs

Amazon Web Services (AWS), an Amazon.com company (NASDAQ: AMZN), is celebrating the successful first year of AWS re/Start – a no-cost, cohort-based, workforce development training program that prepares individuals for careers in the cloud and connects them to potential employers. Currently operating in 180 cities across 60 countries worldwide including Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Jordan, Bahrain, Qatar, Lebanon, Tunisia, Iraq, and Palestine, the program is part of AWS’s effort to train 29 million people in cloud computing skills by 2025 and connects participants with employment opportunities with local employers.

AWS re/Start is a unique curriculum, providing no-cost cloud skills training that supports learners in building a skill set that aligns with the needs of some of the region’s most in-demand tech jobs. Through coursework and hands-on labs, using real world scenarios, learners can gain the technical skills they need for cloud roles. AWS re/Start works with different collaborating organizations across the MENA region that share its mission of building a diverse global pipeline of entry to mid-level trained talent.

AWS re/Start curriculum is adapted to meet learners where they are in their learning journey, desired objectives, and learning modalities. Through scenario-based exercises, instructor-led sessions, learners build Linux, Python, networking, security, database, automation, and core AWS Cloud skills.

Learners receive job-specific training for roles such as technical support specialist, systems administrator, cloud automation lead, up to infrastructure engineer and more. AWS re/Start also provides learners with professional skills including effective communication, collaboration, resume writing, and interview coaching to prepare them for employer meetings and interviews.
