One Montenegro has acquired resources for the implementation of a high-performance and high-capacity 5G mobile network: acquired radio frequencies in the 700 MHz and 3600 MHz bands for a period of 15 years. Funds worth almost three million euros were provided for the further strategic development of the company. With the already existing and newly acquired frequencies, One can switch to gigabit speeds across the country, according to the company's press release.
"We are committed to the development of the 5G network in Montenegro and the Western Balkan region," said Péter Fekete, CEO of the 4iG Group.
As written, One Montenegro was the only provider in 2021 that invested in the 2600 MHz TDD band, which is also 5G-oriented. It has now acquired 2x10 MHz in the 700 MHz band, which primarily serves better geographical coverage. It also acquired 120 MHz in the 3600 MHz spectrum, which provides high-capacity data traffic. In the coming days, a request for an additional 20 MHz will be submitted to the Electronic Communications and Postal Services in the 3600 MHz band. Combining the acquired 5G-oriented spectrum resources provides One's network, which
"We can provide quality 5G plans for consumers, public administrations and businesses. We continue to strive to accelerate the digital transformation, develop higher-level intelligent solutions, ultimately enabling a new chapter of digitalization in Montenegro," said Branko Mitrović, the CEO of One.
With the latest spectrum purchase, the company continues its plan to cover the entire country with a high-capacity 5G network, focusing on cities and tourist destinations. Users can experience higher speeds, lower latency, and higher capacity when using 5G and implement a variety of smart solutions and industrial applications in the country. At the beginning of the year, One launched a commercial 5G network for all its users in Podgorica, Tivat, Bijelo Polje, Cetinje and Nikšić. In addition, the company is preparing for exponentially growing roaming data traffic thanks to the Western Balkan roaming initiative.
