APUA completes island-wide FTTH project

The Antigua Public Utilities Authority (APUA) has completed the rollout of its fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network on Antigua, having kicked off the project back in July 2021.

The FTTH upgrade involved the upgrade of homes with DSL to the more advanced technology with prices for the new service set at below XCD100 (USD37) per month, markedly lower than the XCD335 it previously charged for a 20Mbps/10Mbps entry-level plan and XCD160 for a 10Mbps/1Mbps ‘Super DSL’ line.

APUA Telecoms Business Unit Manager, Vaughn Browne, noted that Barbuda will receive FTTH next and added that the company is also in the process of testing a 5G network for commercial services.
