Algeria Telecom and the Commissariat for Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency (CEREFE) have signed a framework cooperation agreement aimed at promoting energy efficiency and the development of renewable energies in the telecommunications sector, a statement from the CEREFE published on its Facebook page.
This initiative, which is in line with the commitments of the high authorities aimed at rationalizing energy consumption and preserving the country's resources, also coincides with the approach of the Algérie Télécom group, which has adopted a sustainable policy aimed at reducing energy consumption. and greenhouse gas emissions in all its subsidiaries.
For its part, the CEREFE is working within the framework of this agreement to strategically and technically support Algérie Télécom in order to improve its energy management by mobilizing its scientific and practical experience in the field of energy efficiency and renewable energies.
Both parties have agreed to work towards the implementation of this agreement, starting with the establishment of a joint committee to monitor achievements, as they work to develop a cost saving policy. energy in the telecommunications sector by identifying potential capacities for reducing the energy footprint and developing a specific program to achieve this.
It should be noted that the telecommunications sector has experienced a very strong dynamic in terms of solar energy installations over the past two years, according to the latest CEREFE report, installed capacities have increased between 2020 and 2021 by more than five (5) times (i.e. +533%) compared to the end of December 2019.
The implementation of the plan developed by the Algérie Télécom Group to deploy solar energy for the autonomous power supply of transmission and radio systems and networks in isolated locations will allow access to higher levels of installed solar energy. .
