Omnix signs strategic partnership with viAct for GCC region

Omnix, a pioneer in end-to-end digital solutions and services, announced a strategic partnership agreement with viAct, an ESG-focused AI company, to foster digitalization and increase safety in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region’s Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) and Oil & Gas industries. Omnix will become the master distributor of viAct’s products and services in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Oman, and Bahrain, according to the agreement.

The Legacy of Industry Support Solutions

Omnix International has a 35-year history as a provider of digital infrastructure, digital transformation in the AEC industry, computer-aided engineering and cybersecurity, cloud computing, Autodesk trainings, and BIM consultancy services in the GCC region and around the world.

Omnix has been assisting the AEC and Oil & Gas industries in digital transformation, training, and the implementation of advanced technologies by providing best-in-class digital solutions to the public and private sectors throughout the GCC region. It has also served as the region’s value-added distributor for Autodesk and Faro solutions.

“Our strategic partnership with viAct will provide an ingenious dimension for accelerating the digital transformation journey across the fast-growing Middle East region. With our team’s diverse experience and knowledge of products, solutions, and services in the region coupled with viAct’s expertise in automated monitoring powered by video analytics, the ability to digitally derive data-driven decisions in the entire workflow will be a key driver and business enabler to transform the industrial landscape, especially the AEC and Oil & Gas industry,” said Simran Bagga, Vice President, Omnix Engineering & Foundation Technologies.

Partnership With a Cause

The AEC and Oil & Gas industries are two of the most prominent, profitable, and critical industries. Concerns about safety pervade all stages of both industries’ supply chains. Because of the nature of these industries, they are prone to workplace fatalities. In fact, the construction industry is regarded as one of “the most dangerous industries” in terms of workplace fatalities. The oil and gas industry is close behind.

According to the International Association of Oil and Gas Producers (IOGP) safety report, the overall total recordable injury rate in the industry increased by 10% in 2021 compared to 2020. According to reports, up to 10,000 migrant workers from South and Southeast Asia die in Gulf countries each year. The high number of workplace fatalities not only raises concerns about workplace safety, but also reduces industry productivity due to the loss of human resources.

Since its inception, viAct has worked to make job sites safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. It has engaged in continuous and rigorous R&D to develop and improve its proprietary scenario-based AI in order to provide smart and innovative AI solutions that leverage the power of industrial grade video analytics to cater to various safety needs of various industries such as construction and oil & gas. Its various solutions for the oil and gas industry and the AEC industry that leverage the power of AI video analytics to lock in safety and productivity include:

Work at Height Safety Monitoring: AI video analytics can detect falls from height (FFHs), slips, trips, and falls (STFs), workers not wearing (proper) PPE such as hard hats, safety jackets, safety ropes, and so on, and other hazards to ensure work at height safety.

Danger Zone Intrusion Detection: Any instance of workers entering a dangerous area can be instantly detected and alerted using video analytics intrusion detection, preventing fatalities.

Confined Space Work Safety Monitoring: The AEC and oil and gas industries can monitor confined space work in real-time and keep an eye on all aspects of safety in confined spaces with AI monitoring for confined space work.

Fleet Management: The AI monitoring system can help with fleet management by providing complete visibility of fleets such as their location, working/operation hours, operator safety compliances, and so on.

Aside from these, the system of instant alerts can assist stakeholders in risk anticipation and management, and the intuitive dashboard allows for workflow digitization. Thus, by combining AI monitoring of various workplace scenarios with a system of instant alerts and an integrated dashboard, viAct can promote safety and productivity in the AEC and Oil & Gas industries in a simple plug-and-play manner.

“This partnership with Omnix aligns with our safety and sustainability aspirations and will take us a step closer to make our vision a reality. Together with Omnix, we aim at setting our foot into the Middle East market to create safer, efficient and sustainable workplaces through digitization and AI technology”, said Gary Ng, Founder and CEO of viAct.
