Telefonica set to begin marketing fixed services on Telekom FTTH network

Telefonica Deutschland will begin marketing its ‘O2 my Home’ fixed line products over the fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) network of Telekom Deutschland from 30 November.

The pair extended their long-standing fixed broadband network (VDSL and vectoring) collaboration deal for a further ten years back in October 2020, but the new wholesale cooperation agreement also included access to Telekom’s fibre-optic network for the first time. Through the cooperation, Telefonica will now be able to offer gigabit-capable fixed broadband services to more than 4.5 million households under its core O2 brand, with this set to increase to ten million by the end of 2024.

‘We rely on strong, long-term partnerships in the fixed line business. In addition to FTTH connections via the fibre-optic network of Deutsche Telekom, UGG and wilhelm.tel, we can reach over 22 million households with gigabit speeds via the cable networks of Vodafone and Tele Columbus, noted Verena Grundke, Director of Customer Marketing at Telefonica Deutschland, adding: ‘Therefore, we can proudly say that we have the highest gigabit availability in the German fixed network market and provide our customers with everything they need for their digital everyday life – and at an attractive price.’
