Last Monday, the Minister of Post and Telecommunications, Karim Bibi Triki, spoke about the deployment of the fifth generation of "5G" mobile telephony in Algeria . Speaking on Algerian radio, he said that 5G is "an important axis" on which his sector is working.

"There are different aspects to prepare for 5G," he said, citing the aspect of preparing the frequency bands that will enable this technology to be deployed. "We've made good progress on that," he said.

"But beyond the frequencies, we know that 5G will require us to deploy more sites, therefore, a denser network", he explained, adding that "this also requires preparations in consultation and in coordination with other departments so that in urban areas we can be ready to deploy this technology”. The Minister added that 5G technology will be launched “as soon as it is timely and relevant”.
