TIM increases 4G coverage for Insolo and expands farm connectivity projects

Thinking about expanding 4G coverage and the opportunity to reinforce its digital presence in the countryside, Insolo, one of the largest agricultural production groups in Brazil, announces an agreement with TIM to expand the signal in more two farms in the complex. Now, in addition to Serra Grande, Cerro Azul and Ipê, which have already received 4G connectivity from TIM since 2019, the Fortaleza and Santa Maria farms will be incorporated into the largest 4G network in the country.

With the new properties, TIM integrates another 40 thousand hectares of 4G coverage to Insolo, totaling more than 120 thousand hectares in 5 farms. Located in the southern region of Piauí, the Santa Maria and Serra da Fortaleza farms produce soy and corn and have the largest area in the country in use of pesticides. With the implementation of the 4G project, each farm will receive a site on the frequency of 700MHz, enabling the connectivity of machines and sensors and helping to realize an Insolo digital journey project, integrating systems, data and teams, reducing response time and connecting machines in the field, in real time.

This is the second connectivity initiative promoted by Insolo with TIM in 2022. In March, Fazenda Ipê, in Baixa Grande do Ribeiro (PI), hosted the first edition of Expo Agro Digital, an event that featured the activation of the 5G signal by operator and the start of operations of fifth generation technology in Brazilian agribusiness. The 4G mobile coverage expansion projects for Insolo are already prepared for 5G, anticipating a demand and an opportunity. All fiber backhaul for the two new farms is provided by Brasil Net, enabling quality and efficient data transmission to the farm. The partnership with Brasil Net was also essential for Expo Agro Digital, when they were the backhaul providers in the 5G operation.

For Paulo Humberto Cerchi Gouvea, Director of Corporate Solutions at TIM Brasil, enabling connectivity projects for Brazilian agribusiness is one of the operator's priorities: “We are pioneers in the use of the 700 MHz frequency, making the technology available in more than 4,600 municipalities and enabling essential for Internet of Things applications. Connectivity is the differentiator for the evolution of Brazilian agribusiness, and with 4G, we are bringing digital transformation and inclusion to farms and communities. Today, we have millions of hectares covered with technology and we are leaders in 4G coverage, present in more than 5,000 cities across the country”.

Vagner Silva, Technology Manager at Insolo, highlights the importance of connectivity for the group: “We are pioneers in the implementation of precision agriculture and to continue innovating, we rely on TIM and the largest 4G coverage in the country. For 20 years, we have sought to innovate not only in land management and agribusiness, but also to develop solutions that reduce costs, benefit the community and meet the main demands on our farms. With the arrival of 5G, we understand our role in the evolution of technology in the field, and we count on TIM to always keep innovating”.
